Guest Cepheus Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 Goonski be right. Only limited number of very unpopular MK1s were made. More unreliable, a lot thirstier and generally crap. Welcome and Happy New Year! Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 loads of old ropie ford sierra`s xr4x4 out there :16: :) :) or even worse a vw with 4 wheels :) Quote
Ghia-X Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 Goonski be right. Only limited number of very unpopular MK1s were made. More unreliable, a lot thirstier and generally crap. Welcome and Happy New Year! Says who ? Ive owned my 98 Ghia X 4x4 for 2 years and have had no problems with it . Fuel consumption difference is barely noticeable compared to my 96 2.8 Ghia . It certainly isnt crap ! Quote
speck Posted January 1, 2007 Author Report Posted January 1, 2007 oh well looks like ill stick with mine for a bit longer thanks everyone  Quote
Guest wolfie Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 oh well looks like ill stick with mine for a bit longer thanks everyone  go look for a sychro Sharan they were available a lot later than the Galaxy version and were available in TDI form! Quote
familyman Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 was there much advantage with a 4X4 ? Quote
speck Posted January 2, 2007 Author Report Posted January 2, 2007 was there much advantage with a 4X4 ?better handling more grip :angry2: Quote
Andrew T Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 The Sharan 4X4 was called the 4-Motion rather that the Synchro in MK2 form, and was (theoretically) available until last year as a 115 Weasel and a V6 (both manual only). It's a part time system that only sends drive to the rear wheels when the front onesx lose grip. How good it is depends on why you want it. It's more suitable for snow and mud than as a general safety feature IMHO. Quote
speck Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 thanks for the replys think i'll go for the ghia x 2wd do all ghia x's come with leather as i've seen a few on ebay without Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 methinks you answered your own question there! Leather was an option. Quote
speck Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 so what stuff do you get with the x thats not on a ghia  Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Not entirely certain with the MK2 but the MK1 Ghia X had sunroof and climate control and heated front seats in addition to the standard ghia spec. Check out the Parkers website for the full spec details. Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 iirc no ghiax on the mk2:( only ford know why Quote
speck Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 iirc no ghiax on the mk2:( no ghiax either! so there must be more stuff on the mk2 did they do a proper middle belt on all the later mk2's or was it only the ghia Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 good question about the middle belt my 2001 y reg had lap belt, but my late 52 plate has the roof mounted belt Quote
Andrew T Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 The choice of lap strap or 3-point belt centre seat belt depends on build date not spec. The 3-point belt started appearing around Y-reg, although I think some 51 regs can still have a lap strap. Quote
NikpV Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 our y-reg 2001 has the 3 point belt - so this looks like the time it changed Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 my 2001 was a august bulid and didnt have the 3 point belt mind you the roof belt ,is a hazard anyway, loads of tales of woe peeps getting smacked in the face, when it goes back in the roof  Quote
mumof4 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 My 2001 X reg...has the lap belt..... Quote
NikpV Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 peeps getting smacked in the face, when it goes back in the roof  agreed you have to be ultra careful it recoils back with the weight of 2 buckles on it and has removed peeps teeth before IIRC (reported on here) but on the whole would rather have this than the lap belt :) Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 mine is not used anyway wish someone had bulit mine with just one seat  Quote
speck Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 So it look's like i'm looking for a 52reg or newer ghia (no x  ) just got to pick an engine do they still do the 24v on the mk2 Quote
